Fatima Brakta, Pharm.D.

Dr. Brakta is a Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Director of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program and a PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program at University Medical Center in New Orleans (UMCNO).  Dr. Brakta also holds a Gratis appointment with Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  She is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has Added Qualifications in Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Brakta obtained a PharmD degree at Xavier University of Louisiana and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans in 2008.  After completing the residency program, she worked as a clinical pharmacist at both Ochsner Health System in New Orleans and LSU Hospital in Shreveport, LA.  In 2009, Dr. Brakta started working as a Clinical Assistant professor at Xavier University College of Pharmacy and in 2014, she joined UMCNO.  Prior to being promoted to Clinical Manager, Dr. Brakta was UMCNO’s Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacist and Co-Coordinator of the hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program
