Hamid Laga
Hamid received his PhD and MSc degrees in computer science from Tokyo Institute of Technology, in 2006 and 2003, respectively. He is currently a professor at Murdoch University (Australia). He has experience in leading and managing large, multi-disciplinary academic units, overseeing the development and delivery of a large portfolio of courses across multiple disciplines (Information Technology, Mathematics and Statistics, Media and Communication) and locations (Perth, Singapore, and Dubai).
His main expertise is in Machine Learning, 3D Computer Vision, and Computer Graphics. While his primary focus is on fundamental research, he undertakes cross-disciplinary and translational research across agriculture, animal science, biosecurity and health. He also provides consultancy services to industries and companies interested in translating research outcomes to end-user products.
