The talk will provide an overview of the different types of intellectual property. However, the major part will focus on patents and discuss laws regarding patentability.

Explanation of the examination process will be provided by explaining terms like: eligibility, anticipation, obviousness, clarity, and completeness of claimed inventions.

Target audience: Anyone who can understand either English or Arabic.

Dr. Mohammed Rachedine Dr. Mohammed Rachedine

Dr. Mohammed Rachedine’s experience extends over 30 years and includes positions in academia, industry, as well as government. Currently, he is a primary patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Before joining the USPTO, he worked as an RFIC design engineer at Motorola Corporation and Freescale Semiconductor Inc. His principal responsibilities included designing, testing, and evaluating integrated transceivers for cellular phones.

Prior to joining Motorola, he was a faculty member in the Electrical Engineering Department at Hampton University. Dr. Rachedine holds several patents and published multiple articles in professional engineering journals.
